Don’t let the name mislead you: oddly, Ducksoup doesn’t have a single Asian dish on the menu. Instead, the cuisine at this relaxed little bar on Soho’s Dean Street sports a heavy French influence, as do the natural and biodynamic wines.

The food menu houses a large selection of tapas-sized bites (perfect for sharing if you’re feeling a bit peckish) and a choice of slightly larger and regular-sized plates (though never more than three of each). Risotto, sea food and lamb dishes are some of the house staples, always perfectly executed and served with a little twist – something which shouldn’t come as a surprise since Julian Biggs, chef de cuisine, is also the former executive chef from Mark Hix’s eponymous and praised restaurant group.

Ultimately, Ducksoup has the relaxed atmosphere of a modern bistro. It’s a place where you drop in for a glass of good wine, then somehow forget to leave because you’ve completely lost track of time. Be sure to try the delicious chocolate mousse or, alternatively, opt for their killer selection of fine French cheeses to round of your meal.Quote_transparent
