With its location in Oslo House, one of Hackney Wick’s creative hubs, The Hackney Pearl is hugely popular amongst the local artists and residents. Guests are seated around an open-plan kitchen dotted with quaint, chintz-edged tables while the chefs whistle around cooking up a (leisurely) storm. The menu is seasonal and consistently spot-on, while the majority of the produce is locally-sourced where possible – which also goes for the beers, coming from London breweries like Meantime and Redchurch. Drop-in early-ish on a Monday or Tuesday evening and enjoy their occasional “main course and a glass of wine” offers; or on Wednesday nights for their great homemade pizza; or failing these, their brunch is a real must-do.
From the boheme staff and vintage china plates and cups to the mismatched furniture and décor, everything about this place is simply charming. If you happen to be in the area, make sure you drop in for a visit, for it truly is a pearl of Hackney.
